Is Dark Magic A Real Thing?
When discussing the topic of magic, you can get very different answers depending on who you ask. Most of us were taught at a young age that magic does not exist and that the local magician is only capable of doing tricks but does not posses and super natural abilities. It does make one wonder why then do we have so much fascination with magical ideas and concepts if its all just make believe.
Here in the United States we have a long history into witchcraft dating back even beyond the European settlers. Native Americans still to this day have several different beliefs regarding Dark Magik. Just the mere mention of something like a Skinwalker can strike fear in the hearts of many. If you have never heard of a skinwalker, it would be no surprise. Discussing these topics becomes very difficult when no one is willing to have an open dialogue in fear of summoning some sort of negative energy just by using certain words.
If any sort of magic exists, it would naturally make any person wonder what is the purpose of it and why wasn’t it taught to me in school…
Recently in Tennessee, a Roman Catholic school banned the entire JK Rowling’s series of Harry Potter novels from its library because a pastor became aware of the portrayal of magic within the stories. He warned them of the spells and curses the author describes, and believes that they are in fact real spells. Making the statement that there truly is a “risk conjuring evil spirits” when read. The school’s Reverend, Dan Reehill, explained the decision within an email to all the parents of students attending the Nashville St Edward Catholic School. He explained that his decision was made after consulting with exorcists in the US and at the Vatican before banning the seven-volume tale of the boy wizard’s career at Hogwarts and his battle against Lord Voldermort and the forces of darkness.
Trying to do research on dark magic or witchcraft can prove to be difficult with out any guidance. Here is an example; “Watch out for people who claim that the Bible doesn’t speak against white magic, which is false. God hates all type of magic. Satan disguises sinful things by making them seem innocent, beware!” – https://biblereasons.com/is-black-magic-real/
The internet is full of information, however, it is hard to determine if any of the details provided are rooted in fact or fiction. Here is one of the better explanations I have found; ” Magick, sorcery, spells, witchcraft, etc., are all powers of the mind. The success of any working depends upon the strength and power of the operator’s mind, aura, mental concentration and his/her ability to sense and direct energy. Understanding energy, discerning between different energies, invoking, evoking, and directing energy is the foundation of all “magick.” – https://www.joyofsatan.org/www.angelfire.com/empire/serpentis666/Satanic_Magick.html According to this website, there are different levels and/or types of magic.
